Be Inspired with Phoenix Pass Special Guest Ron Hall

Phoenix Pass will be hosting a Special Dinner Event with Ron Hall on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Hall, the best-selling author of Same Kind of Different as Me, will share inspiring and heartwarming stories while moving everyone in kindness, love, and humanity. His book is based on his own true story and made into a movie.

In the best-selling book and movie, Ron Hall weaves a tale of two unique individuals – a self-made millionaire and a homeless man – who have completely different life experiences that intersect. Hall was the successful international art dealer who had very little compassion for homeless people. His wife felt differently, with a lot of compassion for people in need. She convinced him to volunteer at a homeless shelter in Fort Worth, Texas after having a dream. While volunteering with her two weeks later, his life changed when he met Denver Moore. Moore was experiencing homelessness and threatened to kill everyone in the homeless shelter after someone had stolen his shoes.

This life changing encounter inspired Hall to write Same Kind of Different as Me, a story of hope and redemption. Published in June 2006, the book became a New York Times platinum bestseller and stayed on the list for more than three and a half years.

Prior to its publication, Hall and Moore were honored as the 2005 Philanthropists of the Year in Fort Worth for their work to build a new homeless shelter in honor of Hall’s late wife. In 2008, they were honored as Philanthropists of the Year by the Crist Samaritan Center in Houston, Texas. Then in 2007, President Bush appointed Hall to the State Department Cultural Property Committee to advise the President on diplomatic matters regarding international art and antiquities. He served on the committee until 2011.

It’s not too late to get tickets to hear Ron Hall speak! The event is a fundraiser to support families at Phoenix Pass. Phoenix Pass provides transitional housing for women with children experiencing homelessness. Through their program, women have achieved 100% employment with 77% success rate for those who graduated from the program and continue to do well.

The Special Dinner Event with Ron Hall will be held on Saturday, October 5th at the Cross and Crown Pavilion at 2461 ONeal Road SW in Conyers.
