Rockdale and Newton County Hispanic Unsung Heroes to Be Recognized at Conyers Latin Festival

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Unidos Latino Association and the Conyers Latin Festival 2021 is proud to recognize 32 of Rockdale and Newton county’s finest Hispanic unsung heroes.

As part of the commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the 5th Annual Conyers Latin Festival will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Olde Town Conyers. Hosted by Unidos Latino Association (Unidos), this year’s festival will include recognition of 32 Hispanic unsung heroes from Rockdale and Newton counties.

Among the winners to be announced, Unidos has selected doctors, police detectives, mental health professionals, teachers, school administrators, parent liaisons, business owners, restaurant and factory workers, busy retirees, homemakers, college students, high school students and more. All winners are servant leaders who live, work, worship, or go to school in Rockdale or Newton Counties.

“Each, in their fields, is blessed to be there. Our community needs their perspective. You are blessed to have them!” wrote Rebeca Borrell Gibbons, partner of Unidos and one of two organizers of the festival.

During the 2021 Conyers Latin Festival Celebration, the unsung heroes will be recognized onstage at 1 p.m. along with a display on Center and Commercial Streets that includes each of their names, photos, and the Latin American flags of their origin. In addition, their name, photo, flag, and nomination bio will be featured on the website at (note: the link will not be available until after the festival).

The public is invited to open the festival with Unidos during the parade of flags march starting at 11 a.m. Those wanting to participate in the parade are asked to wear traditional clothing or colors of their native country and meet at the Olde Town Conyers Pavilion at Randal S. Mills City Center Park, located at 949 South Main Street, Conyers, Georgia.
